London Former BVB coach Lucien Favre is considered one of the candidates for the vacant coaching position at Norwich City. The Premier League climber broke up with his German coach Daniel Farke on November 6th – after the first win of the season, of all places.
Favre, who canceled after lengthy negotiations at Crystal Palace in the summer, is currently only a second choice, according to the British newspaper “Times”. Former Chelsea coach Frank Lampard is considered the favorite to succeed Farke.
In England, the coaching carousel turns quickly before the international break. One day after Farkes Aus, Dean Smith lost his job at Aston Villa as the fifth coach in the current Premier League season. When looking for a successor, the Birmingham club is said to be particularly interested in Steven Gerrard, coach of Scottish soccer champions Glasgow Rangers, according to the Times and Daily Mail.
Ralph Hasenhüttl from FC Southampton, Belgium’s national coach Roberto Martinez and Denmark coach Kasper Hjulmand are also on the list of those responsible for the villa. It is questionable, however, whether Aston Villa can pull one of the candidates away from his current employer. John Terry, who was Dean Smith’s assistant until the summer of 2021, is given little chance.
The nouveau riche Newcastle United signed Eddie Howe as their new coach more than two weeks after breaking up with Steve Bruce on Monday. Last week, Tottenham Hotspur introduced the Italian Antonio Conte as the successor to the dismissed Nuno Espirito Santo.
Watford FC made the first coaching change of the season when Claudio Ranieri succeeded Xisco Munoz in early October. It is quite possible that the next club will soon be looking for a coach: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is under pressure at Manchester United.
