Washington NHL superstar Alexander Ovetschkin has only three players left in the all-time top scorer list of the world’s best ice hockey league.
The attacker from Russia scored in the 5-3 Washington Capitals against the Buffalo Sabers on Monday to 3-1. The goal was his 741st goal in the NHL, drawing level with Brett Hull. In front of the two are only Jaromir Jagr (766), Gordie Howe (801) and the great Wayne Gretzky (894). The 36-year-old Ovechkin also prepared two goals for a total of 600 assists in his career.
The Florida Panthers, meanwhile, suffered their first loss of the season in regular time and lost to the New York Rangers 3-4. With ten wins from twelve games, the Panthers are still the most successful NHL team this season.
