HSV was fined 30,000 euros for “unsportsmanlike conduct by its supporters,” according to the DFB website. The association could use up to 10,000 euros of the penalty for security measures. This must then be proven by May 31, 2022.

“During the game against Fortuna Düsseldorf, the Düsseldorf player Khaled Narey was insulted by a small group of spectators from the Hamburg block with ‘monkey sounds’ and also insulted in a racist manner,” said the verdict. “Such inhumane behavior grossly violates the values of the DFB and is in no way tolerated.”

The HSV had already condemned the incidents against his ex-player Narey after it became known. These incidents are unacceptable and have “no place either in the Volksparkstadion or in our society”. The club emphasized that HSV stands for diversity and that individual misconduct does not stand for the values of the club. Therefore, they will “do everything possible to clear up and punish the incidents”.
