SV Wehen Wiesbaden has signed Markus Kauczinski as a new coach. The 51-year-old coach signed a contract with Hessen until June 30, 2023, as the third division team announced on Monday. Mike Krannich and Nils Döring, who last looked after the team as interim coaches, will stay with the SVWW as assistant coaches. Kauczinski succeeds head coach Rüdiger Rehm, who is on leave. “It’s about being successful and playing up there. That’s what the club said and that goes well,” said Kauczinski to hr-sport.
“Markus Kauczinski is a very confident coach who has a lot of experience from the 3rd division and the 2nd Bundesliga,” said managing director Nico Schäfer. In recent years, Kauczinski has worked for FC Ingolstadt in the Bundesliga, as well as for Karlsruher SC, FC St. Pauli and most recently for Dynamo Dresden until April 2021.
First competitive game on Wednesday
The coach praised his new club when he was introduced. “The SVWW is a seriously run club. Those responsible have a clear idea of the long-term development of a team,” said Kauczinski. He wanted to be “part of this development”. On Tuesday, Kauczinski should lead his first unit with the Hessians and stabilize the team, especially in the league.
The first competitive game, however, is in the cup: The round of 16 in the Hessen Cup at Türk Gücü Friedberg (Wednesday, 7.30 p.m.) is Kauczinski’s premiere as SVWW coach, before it will be the first time in the away game at 1. FC Kaiserslautern on November 20 (2 p.m.) for points in the 3rd division.
The new coach’s work should then already bear its first fruits: “His teams always have a clear signature. We believe that he can improve our game in many areas. We are therefore very happy that we can win him over “, explains Paul Fernie, Sports Director at SVWW.
