Djokovic according to US-Open-Revanche: Title in Paris

In the high-class final of the Masters 1000 tournament in Paris, the world number one turned a set deficit on Sunday and defeated defending champion Daniil Medvedev after 2:15 hours with 4: 6.6: 3.6: 3. Djokovic has reached the next milestone with his 37th title in a Masters 1000 event.

Because now he has won the most titles in the highest ATP category, previously he had to share this record with the Spaniard Rafael Nadal (36 titles).

The 34-year-old triumphed for the sixth time in Bercy in the east of Paris. By moving into the final it was already clear that Djokovic would be number one in the world rankings for the seventh time at the end of a season. No one else has succeeded so often.

Djokovic made an impressive return after pausing since losing the US Open final in mid-September. In New York he had lost to the Russian Medvedev and thus missed the Grand Slam – winning the four most important tournaments in a calendar year. Previously, he had won the Australian Open, the French Open and Wimbledon, but also failed to achieve the desired Olympic victory due to the semi-final defeat against Vienna winner Alexander Zverev.

Zverev was not granted the double Vienna-Paris, the Hamburger had no chance in the semifinals against Medewew at 2: 6.2: 6. This trio is one of the closest favorites for the ATP Finals, which are moving from London to Turin for the first time in many years. The “Masters” starts on November 14th.
