Bundesliga: VfB Stuttgart against Arminia Bielefeld: 0: 1, 11th matchday

It only became really tight for Bielefeld with a shot by Roberto Massimo, who narrowly missed the opening goal after a quarter of an hour after a brave solo run by Borna Sosa and a well-timed deposit by Daniel Didavi.

Counterattack played perfectly

The Arminia did not burn down a firework of great opportunities on the other side, but was freezing on the first dangerous counterattack. With his through pass to Masaya Okugawa, Wimmer cracked VfB’s offside trap by centimeters in the 19th minute, the Japanese ran free to Fabian Bredlow and kept his nerve at the end.

Stuttgart then tried to increase the pressure in midfield, but often acted too slowly, without any surprises and kept getting stuck in the very concentrated Arminia defense. A long-range shot from Didavi (34th) was the only notable scene before the break, Bielefelds Keeper Stefan Ortega held the ball confidently.

Three times aluminum bad luck for Arminia

In the second round, it was increasingly noticeable to Kramer’s team that the leadership provided security. Stuttgart seemed more and more desperate, even had to listen to whistles from its own supporters. Bielefeld, however, missed the opportunity to capitalize on the significant increase in opportunities and to calm the nerves of its own attachment early on. But there was also a lot of bad luck on several occasions.

Andrade failed with a header on the left outside post in the 71st minute, then Amos Pieper’s shot clapped from the underside of the bar just in front of the goal line (83rd). Three minutes later, Bredlow’s ears rang again in the VfB goal: This time Fabian Klos had played perfectly for Janni Serra, but his finish also bounced off the crossbar into the field.

Stuttgart now to Dortmund

In the end, VfB opened up completely, but even when Bredlow left his goal in phases, Edimilson Fernandes could not make it 2-0 with a shot from his own half and neither could Klos.

VfB Stuttgart is now playing at Borussia Dortmund after the international break. Kick-off is on Saturday (November 20th, 2021) at 3:30 p.m. Arminia Bielefeld has his home game against VfL Wolfsburg at the same time.
