Athens Eintracht Frankfurt is in the Europa League for the fourth time – and for the fourth time the Hessians have survived the group stage. Now they want to achieve the much-needed successes in the Bundesliga as well.
Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt completed a small unit in Greece after their next victory in the Europa League before they returned home. This is what head coach Oliver Glasner said at the press conference in the team hotel in Athens.
“We want to use the nice weather here, this feeling of well-being, to prepare ourselves mentally for the next game,” said the Austrian. The Hessians had won 2-1 at Olympiacos Piraeus on matchday 4 and thus secured the winter in Europe. 23 degrees and sunshine were reported for Athens, nine degrees and cloudy for Frankfurt.
For the Bundesliga game on Sunday evening (7.30 p.m. / DAZN) at Greuther Fürth, Glasner could again have a few additional options. Martin Hinteregger, who was spared after high stress, could return to the guest appearance in Franconia as well as the recently injured Filip Kostic and Ajdin Hrustic. To Kostic, who is struggling with Achilles tendon problems, Glasner said: “We have a mammoth program ahead of us. So we have to be careful that the whole thing doesn’t get worse or become chronic. “
