After the surprising win against Felix Auger-Aliassime, Dominik Koepfer continued on Thursday. The German was eliminated against Hubert Hurkacz.
Out in the round of 16: Dominik Koepfer
Dominik Koepfer missed the next surprise win at the ATP Masters in Paris and failed in the round of 16. The 27-year-old lost to the Polish world number ten, Hubert Hurkacz 6: 4, 5: 7, 2: 6 on Thursday and missed the second Masters quarter-finals of his career.
Koepfer, who actually failed in the qualification and then moved into the main field as a lucky loser, had eliminated the three-time Grand Slam winner Andy Murray after seven match points against himself and then the US Open semi-finalist Felix Auger-Aliassime in the previous rounds. He caused problems for the favorite Hurkacz for a long time, but the high-serving Pole showed his qualities in the third set.
The German number one Alexander Zverev (Hamburg) is still in action on Thursday. The Olympic champion meets the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov.
