In the German Ice Hockey League (DEL), the Bietigheim Steelers were in action on Wednesday evening. Due to the corona warning level that came into force in Baden-Württemberg, some fans were unable to support their team on site.
The Bietigheim Steelers received a narrow home defeat on Wednesday evening. The promoted team lost to the Nürnberg Ice Tigers 1: 2 (0: 0, 1: 1, 0: 1). Bietigheim is penultimate in the DEL table.
At the home game against Nuremberg, the Bietigheim Steelers had to forego some of the fan support. The reason: In Baden-Württemberg, the corona warning level came into force on Wednesday. This states that people who have not been vaccinated or who have not recovered must show a negative PCR test in closed rooms.
For the duel with the Ice Tigers from Nuremberg, the Steelers had to change their admission rules for fans. Because: Sports facilities may only be visited in the warning level by vaccinated, convalescent and tested people, the latter requiring a PCR test. So for some non-immunized fans it might not have been enough to be able to present a valid PCR test by the start of the game. Volker Schoch, managing director of Bietigheim Steelers, assumed in the SWR interview shortly after the game started that the Bundesliga club had “lost between 300 and 500 spectators”.
Adler Mannheim celebrate ninth victory in a row
The Adler Mannheim were also in action on Wednesday evening. The Kurpfälzer celebrated their ninth win in a row and expanded their lead at the top of the table. After the 6: 1 (2: 0, 2: 0, 2: 1) against the Iserlohn Roosters, the Adler have been undefeated for more than a month. The last defeat so far was on October 2nd at the Roosters (0-2).
