Why Antonio Conte will not train on his first day at Tottenham Hotspur

Why Antonio Conte will not train on his first day at Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs name Antonio Conte

Just over 24 hours after they announced that they had fired Nuno Espirito Santo after four months in office, Tottenham welcomed Antonio Conte at the helm in North London.

The former Inter Milan and Chelsea manager has signed an 18-month contract, with the option to extend it if the relationship turns out to be harmonious. Now back in the Premier League, he will be looking to maintain his record of winning silver medals at every club he has been to, something a very long bridge even for José Mourinho at Tottenham.

Why he won’t take Tottenham training on Tuesday

Although Conte has been confirmed as the new coach, heading into Spurs training this afternoon, he will not be able to take over.

This is because, according to Sky Sports [See below], you are still waiting for a work visa so that you can fully commit to work. Although there is no need to worry about not being able to get one, it still won’t arrive when you start training, which means you can’t take care of it.

This also raises questions about when their first game in charge will be, with the draw at home against Vitesse on Thursday, a must-have draw for Tottenham to advance from their Europa Conference League group.

This means their first game on the bench won’t come until Sunday, when the Spurs travel to Goodison Park to face Everton.
