Liverpool’s Fabinho issues an update on his and Alisson’s selection status for the Watford tie

Liverpool's Fabinho issues an update on his and Alisson's selection status for the Watford tie

Liverpool will face Watford

Liverpool is set to kick off this weekend’s round of Premier League matches with a lunchtime trip to Vicarage Road on Saturday to face Watford. The Hornets are now under new management, with Claudio Ranieri taking over after Xisco Muñoz was fired during the international break, so they will be looking to put on a show for their local fans.

Jurgen Klopp’s team, on the other hand, is flying after a brilliant start to the season that has seen them remain the only undefeated team in the division thus far. Sitting second behind Chelsea, they know that a victory is imperative as they look to keep up with the first rivals.

However, they may have to do this with a threadbare squad.

Duo is not sure of availability

Two players Liverpool will be sweating with are Fabinho and Alisson, both in international service with Brazil. La Selecao face Uruguay in a World Cup qualifier just 36 hours before the clash with Watford, casting doubt on their availability for the Premier League tie.

And now, it seems that Fabinho almost dismissed the idea. In statements to the Brazilian press, he revealed:

“I think this Liverpool game against Watford will be very difficult for us. I don’t think we play, neither Alisson nor me. ”

While this is a hit, it has been softened by the news that Trent Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Jota are expected to be available, and their availability has also been in question.

Can Liverpool score the necessary three points even without their star Brazilians?
