Jesse Lingard ‘ready to leave’ Man United during the winter window

Newcastle or even Barcelona? Jesse Lingard's stance on January's Old Trafford departure revealed

A fresh take on the current mindset of Jesse Lingard at Manchester United will be offered on Thursday afternoon.

Hammers stand out

The name of the English international Lingard, of course, took center stage in the media chatter along the recently closed window.

This came with the 28-year-old fresh off something of a career revival during the second half of last season.

After fighting again for playing time during the first half of the season at Old Trafford, Lingard was loaned to West Ham, with whom he exceeded all expectations.

Having had the freedom to operate from the ranks of the Hammers in the middle of the park, the creative midfielder quickly established himself as one of the Premier League’s most prominent players.

In all, he racked up nine goals and four assists in 16 appearances for West Ham, the kind of form that culminated in a Player and Goal of the Month double in April:

Towards the Camp Nou?

Such stellar feats, in turn, led to the inevitable talk that Lingard would likely seal another quick outing from Old Trafford in the summer, albeit this time permanently.

Evidently, however, in the end, such a move did not materialize.

But, as described above, a new perspective on the midfielder’s current stance on his future in Manchester will emerge on Thursday. And it will certainly be a boost for any club looking to secure their signature during the January transfer window.

According to a report by David McDonnell of the Mirror, “Jesse Lingard is set to leave Manchester United in January.”

The 28-year-old is said to have had enough of his lack of playing time during the first weeks of the campaign, as he was allowed a paltry total of just 45 minutes of action in all competitions.

In turn, with Lingard still hoping to secure a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for next year’s World Cup, he is aware that Manchester United’s chapter of his career will soon have to close for good.

Between the clubs expected Expressing interest in the services of the Three Lions star in January are Premier League rivals West Ham United and Newcastle United, fresh off a high-value acquisition.

However, also singled out as more surprising potential destinations by the Mirror, are European heavyweights Barcelona and AC Milan.
