Chelsea fans react when club legend Didier Drogba scores a hat-trick in a charity match

Drogba achieves a hat-trick in a charity match

In a rare break from a slow international break, the Velodrome in Marseille hosted a charity match between a team of its legends and a UNICEF team led by iconic boss Arsene Wenger.

The game, called “Match des heros” was played for the dual charities of UNICEF and the Didier Drogba foundation, and it ended up being much more entertaining than initially expected.

While F1 star Pierre Gasly was on the roster, it was the man the base was being played for, Didier Drogba, who stole the show. The former Chelsea and Marseille legend, who scored 164 goals for the London club in 381 appearances, took home the match ball while scoring another three for Marseille, despite being retired since November 2018.

Chelsea fans react

Unsurprisingly, a hat-trick in a game of legends was unleashed on social media, with Chelsea fans among those lining up to sing their praises of the club’s legend.

Chelsea hope that in Romelu Lukaku they have signed a man even half as good as Drogba for the Blues.
