Structural changes in Newcastle begin with the search for the sporting director

Newcastle United has started the process of leap into modernity as the club has taken its first steps in the search for a sporting director.

Under new ownership by the consortium (Public Investment Fund, RB Sports & Media and PCP Capital Partners), the Magpies have begun considering candidates for the new position at St. James’ Park.

According to the Telegraph, whoever is finally hired for the key role in the new regime “will lead the technical aspects of a new era for the club and will work on top of whoever is chosen to replace manager Steve Bruce.”

Both Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi attended a training session yesterday in what may only be one of the most relaxing periods for the pair in the wake of the events surrounding the full Newcastle takeover, but the pair must first be involved in key decision-making with the goal of ‘reducing the risk of mistakes costly and ensure some philosophical continuity should the results lead to a manager or head coach change. “

Four main names for the key role of magpies

As Newcastle begins its quest for the club’s sporting director position, four names have emerged as top candidates for a position in the hierarchical magpies tree.

Ralf Rangnick, Michael Edwards, Frank McParland, and Jason wilcox leading the short list of names who will be tasked with guiding the club both on and off the pitch to advance.

Steve Bruce is almost guaranteed to be replaced and many feel: despite the respect that should be given – that your time is late. And with the expected surge in spending and football modernization on the field that the club must go through to rise rapidly in the Premier League, the match between the sporting director and the new head coach must be perfect.

The Telegraph also stated the following regarding the evolution of the situation;

“Discussions between the various members of the consortium and their advisers will continue in the coming days and Telegraph Sport has been stressed that no one should be ruled out in or out at this stage.”
