Germany booked their spot in next year’s World Cup on Monday night, courtesy of a Chelsea-themed beating in North Macedonia.
Werner in the double
The men of Hansi Flick were back in action recently.
In the nation’s last outing from the international break, Die Mannschaft traveled to Skopje, for a World Cup qualifying showdown with North Macedonia.
Germany headed into the proceedings with the aim of keeping alive a stellar qualifying campaign to date, which had seen them clinch victories in six of their seven starts.
And, after the final whistle that sounded at the Tose Proeski National Arena, this is exactly what the visitors achieved.
A predictably dominant display eventually culminated at Flick and co. emerging on the right side from a wide 4-0 scoreline.
The scoring for the night opened early in the second half, when Kai Havertz fit on goal in an empty net due to selfless work on the part of Thomas Muller:

A neat goal from Germany.

Chelsea teammate Timo Werner jumped into action and found the net twice in the space of three minutes to end any remaining hope of a North Macedonia comeback.
The 25-year-old’s two strokes were of the highest caliber, the first an unstoppable half volley from the center of the area and the second a sumptuous flexing effort from the left side:

Werner’s timely return to form, the hitman also scored against Southampton in his last Chelsea appearance, will no doubt be greeted with open arms by Blues boss Thomas Tuchel, who is currently sweating from form. star forward Romelu Lukaku ahead of this weekend’s return to Premier League Action.
Musiala joins the elite club
Interestingly, Germany’s final goal on Monday night was also scored by a player with strong ties to Chelsea.
The man in question? Jamal Musiala.
Musiala, 18, is a product of the Chelsea academy, giants of the Premier League.
However, after eight years in the Blues books, in the summer of 2020, the talented star chose to set off to the southwest of London, for a new adventure in the Bundesliga.
Musiala partnered with Bayern Munich and has since strived to solidify his status not only as one of the leading talents in Germany, but throughout Europe.
Meanwhile, facing North Macedonia, the versatile attacker opened his international account in his ninth appearance with Die Mannschaft, becoming the second-youngest scorer in the nation’s famous history, and the youngest since 1910.
