Smith Rowe & Jones combine to form a net deciding winner for England Under-21s

See how the youngsters of Arsenal and Liverpool combine to make a decisive net winner for the England Under-21 team

A pair of youngsters representing two of the Premier League’s biggest clubs combined to guide England’s under-21 team beyond Andorra on Monday night.

The Arsenal man makes the difference

Lee Carsley’s men were back in action recently.

After squandering a 2-goal lead to finally succumb to a 2-2 draw with Slovenia late last week, the Young Lions tonight made the trip to Andorran minnows, aware that nothing but a shot from 3 points would do to keep his hopes for a live place in the European Championship.

And, when all was said and done, securing the three points is precisely what England got … fair.

When Rhian Brewster was sent on his way for a second accounting violation early in the second half, it seemed as if another thoroughly disappointing night awaited the visitors at the Estadi Nacional.

However, this was only until the 66th minute, when a lightning break from an Andorran corner saw returning Liverpool player Curtis Jones slip into Emile Smith Rowe.

And Arsenal’s talent, one of the few players to have been praised in last week’s draw with Slovenia, made no mistake with a precise finish in the far lower corner:

The Young Lions, in turn, saw the remainder of the game with a one-goal lead, to move within two points of the Czech Republic and Albania in the Group G table.

ESR rewarded

Putting aside the first goal on the international stage, match winner Smith Rowe was also recognized for his latest performance starring England supporters at the back of full time in Andorra.

The Arsenal midfielder beat out competition from players like Tino Livramento and the aforementioned Jones to secure Man of the Match honors on Monday night:
