Why Favre’s arrival in Newcastle could spell bad news for Saint-Maximin

Why Lucien Favre's arrival in Newcastle could spell bad news for Allan Saint-Maximin

An interesting take on the relationship shared by Newcastle-linked strategist Lucien Favre and current Magpies star Allan Saint-Maximin will be released on Sunday night.

Bruce’s replacement identified?

The links between Favre and the soon-to-be-vacant managerial seat at St. James’ Park have, of course, recovered in a major way in recent hours.

In the wake of Newcastle’s big money takeover, which on Thursday saw the maligned Mike Ashley replaced by a staggeringly wealthy Saudi Arabian consortium, Steve Bruce’s days in Tyneside are seen as long overdue.

In fact, on Sunday afternoon, it emerged that the chief of the magpies is “on the brink” of being fired.

As a result, rumors have since started to circulate about who will be chosen by Yasir Al-Rumayyan and co. as the man to replace Bruce and oversee a potentially prosperous new era in North East England.

A lot of tacticians have been called as candidates, including the likes of Antonio Conte, Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard.

However, on Sunday night, somewhat unexpectedly, former Borussia Dortmund manager Lucien Favre assumed strong leadership status, with the Swiss manager’s odds reduced to just 4/1:

Concern about ASM?

In turn, if the bookies’ predictions are of any use, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Favre appointed as Newcastle’s new manager sometime within the next two weeks.

While most in Tyneside would certainly welcome the seasoned strategist, a current member of the Magpies organization, and a key one in that, they might well be absolutely impressed by such an appointment.

This comes after reports of previous problems between Favre and Allan Saint-Maximin resurfaced on social media.

It is claimed that, during his stint at OGC Nice, Favre was so outraged by Saint-Maximin’s behavior during a training session that the 63-year-old “ withdrew mid-session ” to demand that the hierarchy of the club sanctions the sale of the end with immediate effect.

Not only that, but this outburst is said to have occurred during ASM’s first day of training with Les Aiglons:
