Aaron Ramsdale reveals Bukayo Saka’s role in Arsenal trade

Aaron Ramsdale reveals Bukayo Saka's role in Arsenal trade

Aaron Ramsdale has discussed the role Bukayo Saka would play in his summer transfer to Arsenal.

Ramsdale’s season at Arsenal

Arsenal would bring in Aaron Ramsdale from Sheffield United, which is now the championship, during the summer.

The Englishman had not previously enjoyed the best of Premier League seasons, either with Sheffield United or Bournemouth.

Yet Ramsdale is only 23 years old and full of potential. When the closer joined Arsenal, there was an expectation that he would play as a backup for Bernd Leno.

And, during the first three league games of the season, this is what happened, with the German starting in a 2-0 loss to Brentford, a 2-0 loss to Chelsea and a 5-0 loss to Manchester City (Ramsdale had yet to signed for Arsenal at the time of Brentford’s match).

But, after the Gunners’ terrible start to the campaign, Mikel Arteta has dropped Leno and given Ramsdale a chance to shine.

And, so far, the young closer has done exactly that, keeping three clean sheets out of four in the Premier League, as well as impressing by conceding just once against Tottenham.

Ramsdale on Saka’s role in the Arsenal trade

Ramsdale is believed to have pushed Arsenal back a fair amount of change, with the fee potentially increasing to £ 30 million.

And given his previously disappointing spells in the English top flight with Bournemouth and then Sheffield United, Arsenal fans may have been a bit skeptical that their club spent so much on a rather untested Premier League player.

However, the transfer so far has proven to be big business and Arsenal appear poised to be chosen as the number one goalkeeper for the next decade.

Now Ramsdale, who is off international duty for England, has revealed the role Bukayo Saka played in his move to Arsenal:

“Agent Saka. That’s what it says. Said the manager [Arteta] I spoke to him a couple of times and luckily he gave me a good review. “

Ramsdale added about Saka:

“What a boy. He’s just happy. He’s always happy. What a footballer too. I’m very happy now that he’s on my team at club level.

“When you come here and you have the talent that we have above, Bukayo is in the mix of that.

“You can’t help but smile when he’s mentioned or when he’s in the room.”
