Aaron Ramsdale talks about replacing Bernd Leno at Arsenal

'Every goalkeeper makes mistakes': Aaron Ramsdale talks about replacing Bernd Leno at Arsenal

Ramsdale leaves its mark

Arsenal would bring in Aaron Ramsdale from the now championship team Sheffield United for the summer.

The Englishman had not previously enjoyed the best of Premier League seasons with both Sheffield United and Bournemouth.

However, Ramsdale is still only 23 years old and full of potential. When he was hired, there was an expectation that he would play as a backup for Bernd Leno.

And, in the first three league games of the season, this is what happened, with the German starting in a 2-0 loss to Brentford, a 2-0 loss to Chelsea and a 5-0 loss to Manchester City (Ramsdale had not signed by Arsenal at the time of Brentford’s match).

But after the Gunners’ terrible start to the campaign, Mikel Arteta has left Leno and given Ramsdale a chance to shine.

And, so far, the young shooting stopper is doing exactly that, keeping three clean sheets out of four in PL, as well as impressing Tottenham.

Ramsdale on replacing Leno

Although Ramsdale comes in and starts working is great for most at Arsenal, it has cast some doubt on Leno’s future.

The German will only have one year left on his current contract this summer, and he doesn’t seem too keen to continue playing as a substitute.

Leno himself recently speak He realized that he had been benched and suggested that if nothing had changed in his situation for the winter then he might consider looking elsewhere:

“Only if nothing changes in my situation for the winter, I would have to think about things: what option do I have, how can I continue? But I am concentrating on my work in training; I can’t commit to anything else right now. “

And now Ramsdale has got himself spoken on repackaging Leno as Arsenal’s main goalkeeper:

“I think Bernd Leno has done a great job. I think he has had a lot of punishment for doing very little wrong. Every goalkeeper makes mistakes. Every person makes mistakes. But I think he has saved Arsenal many times in many games.

“I just think that because of the way the team is going, with a certain style of play, they have brought me in to replace him and at this moment yes, but that does not mean that it will be my jersey for long. of time.”
