Tottenham quartet to miss tie against Newcastle after international break

Tottenham quartet to miss tie against Newcastle after international break

Tottenham go up and down at the start of the season

After a poor performance at the Emirates Stadium that saw the Spurs fall with a 3-1 loss, Nuno Espirito Santo faced big questions about his future.

The victories over Slovenian minnows NS Mura and Aston Villa in the seven days since have helped stabilize the boat, and it looks like it will make it to the end of the season if possible, given the clause inserted in its contract.

With another international break now here, however, there are more problems ahead.

Four players about to disappear

A quartet of players have been called up for South American teams, with Giovanni Lo Celso and Cristian Romero set to represent Argentina, Davinson Sánchez called up by Colombia and Emerson Royal handed over a call-up from Brazil.

Of course, the Argentine duo and Sánchez were forced to fly home from the last international break through a training ground in Croatia to maintain their fitness, which saw them miss the 3-0 loss to Crystal Palace.

Last time, the players were allowed to leave early, but Argentine coach Lionel Scaloni shot down any hope that they would do the same this time.

Talking about the topic of leaving early, he said:

“We are not going to do the same as last time with the Premier League players, under any circumstances,”

“[Last month] I said they came to play all three games but the players made me a difficult decision and I understood it, so I let them go. Now the players are here to play all three games. Under no point of view will they leave earlier. “

To add insult to injury, the Evening Standard report that:

“Colombia and Brazil also refuse to allow Davinson Sánchez and Emerson Royal, respectively, to return to the club early”

This means the Spurs could run out of up to four players (not including injuries) for their draw with Newcastle, with just 36 hours between the final internationals and the clash with Steve Bruce’s team. While they haven’t given up hope that they will play, it seems like a long way off.
