Tottenham Hotspur board refuses to meet with fans’ confidence after uneven start to season

Tottenham Hotspur board refuses to meet with fans' confidence after uneven start to season

Tottenham’s rocky start

Tottenham have had a mixed start to the season, winning 4 of their first seven games, all by a one-goal margin. However, they have also endured three defeats, conceding nine in the process, and there are legitimate doubts about the direction of the club that claimed to be attacking football and subsequently handed over the reins to notoriously defensive boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

Thus, days after the loss to Arsenal, the Tottenham Supporters Trust issued a statement in which it said that they requested a meeting with the board in an attempt to understand the strategy of the clubs.

Of course, since then, two victories have stabilized the boat a bit.

However, the meeting has since been rejected, and in another statement, the trust described the problems that remained, saying:

“The recent mistakes by the club’s leadership have been well publicized and resulted in harsh criticism not only from THST and other Tottenham fan groups, but also from the general football authorities, the media and the government.

“The uneven start to the season has led many to question the approach of the THFC board of directors, what their goals are and how they measure progress. And while individual decisions about players and tactics are not up to the Trust, it is our job to question a broader strategy when performance on the field is insufficient.

“While we have continued to work with various department heads at the club, the club’s board has refused to communicate, despite saying publicly that their door remains open. Now our latest request for the club’s board to address legitimate fan concerns has been rejected.

“With the government’s fan-led review of soccer governance about to publish its recommendations, the actions of the THFC board provide the evidence why change is necessary. The club’s board wants to choose what they talk about, when they talk and who they talk to. It is a clear example of the reality of the relationships of grace and favor, and that is why we work so hard to develop proposals that could bring real change. The kind of historic change that we hope the review will have the opportunity to deliver to all fan groups across the country. “

Without the fans on board, which football director Fabio Paratici said yesterday were fundamental to the club, can Tottenham really affect the change?
