Manchester United’s Paul Pogba would be ready to sign a new contract, with one important condition

Manchester United's Paul Pogba ready to sign a new contract, with one important condition

Paul Pogba subject to PSG interest

Paul Pogba’s return to Manchester United in the summer of 2016 for a club record fee was greeted with much fanfare, but it’s fair to say that the Frenchman has struggled to live up to expectations in the North West.

With 215 appearances for the Red Devils, the Frenchman has contributed 38 goals and 49 assists, which seems reasonable for a central midfielder. However, his high-level performances have been few and far between, and this season saw him pushed to the left side in favor of a central pairing of Scott McTominay and Fred.

As such, and with one year remaining on his current contract in the Northwest, it was thought that PSG would be interested in signing the Frenchman, while they assemble their version of the Galacticos.

However, in the months since, Pogba has apparently changed his mind, with The Athletic reporting that he was leaning towards staying at Old Trafford.

Pogba open to stay, on one condition

Now, according to French media L’Equipe, Pogba is openly declaring his desire to remain at the club where he has spent most of his youth and senior career.

However, this comes on the condition that he, or rather his entourage, wishes him to be the highest paid player in Premier League history. Given that he shares a dressing room with Cristiano Ronaldo, this seems like a bridge too far, but will Manchester United cross it?
