Liverpool aims to launch offer for Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio

Liverpool 'weighs' Real Madrid to place the attacker in the market

Rumors in the Spanish media over the past 24 hours suggest that Liverpool have joined a growing list of clubs in the search for Real Madrid star Marco Asensio.

Salah and company carrying the load

The subject of depth, or rather the lack of it, in the Reds’ front row from Jurgen Klopp, of course, has proven to be a hot topic of discussion during the first weeks of the new season.

While Liverpool have kicked off their efforts on both the home and European fronts impressively, the Merseyside squad understandably have continued to rely heavily on the attacking quartet of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota and Roberto. Firmino.

This comes with the attacking ranks at Anfield containing very little quality depth.

After Xherdan Shaqiri moved out over the summer, Klopp stuck with the likes of Divock Origi, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Harvey Elliott to act as backup to his star-studded front-four, with the former battling for form, and The latter pair apparently feel more comfortable in a deeper role.

What makes the situation even more worrisome is the fact that, after the turn of the year, both Salah and Mane will depart for the African Cup of Nations.

As such, it goes without saying that Liverpool would do well to secure reinforcements in the attacking third in the foreseeable future.

Asensio looked

And, as described above, if the last word coming from the mainland is something to go through, then it seems that those in a position of power on Merseyide have set their sights on exactly that.

According to a report from the Spanish media. ABC, the Reds are ‘weighing’ a play for Real Madrid star Marco Asensio.

Versatile attacker Asensio is understood to be seeking a move away from the Bernabéu, having had starts in just two of La Liga de Los Blancos’ eight games up to this point in the campaign.

Real, in turn, have opened the door to a departure, eager to secure some form of return for their talented but inconsistent Spanish international before their contract expires in 2023.

For its part, Liverpool, after expressing prior interest in his signing, has returned to the charge for Asensio.

The Reds, however, will face stiff competition if they have a genuine hope of pushing a deal over the line, with AC Milan and even more so Juventus interested in the addition of the 25-year-old.
