Rival fans target Watford after Ranieri’s appointment

'Gone by Christmas': rival fans react when Watford confirms Claudio Ranieri's appointment

Supporters of rival clubs across the Premier League landscape have taken to social media tonight to provide their respective views on the appointment of Claudio Ranieri at Watford.

Xisco out / Ranieri in

The first dismissal of the English top flight campaign came, of course, on Sunday morning.

Despite the season only having seven games, following a 1-0 loss at the hands of Leeds on Saturday, the Vicarage Road board made the decision that it was time to change the club’s bench.

In turn, Xisco Muñoz, after less than a calendar year in charge, was removed from his role as manager of Watford:

As a result, attention had quickly turned to who was to take the reins in Hertfordshire for the remainder of the term.

And, on Monday night, this question has been answered.

In another post on the club’s social media platforms, the Hornets confirmed that legendary Italian strategist Claudio Ranieri has been chosen as the man to spearhead a new era on Vicarage Road.

‘Fired for Christmas’

Since then, the reaction from the Watford faithful has proven to be largely mixed, with Ranieri’s credentials as a Premier League title-winning boss seemingly not enough to convince most.

But it’s the shots of rival fans that have really caught the eye on Twitter.

This comes as viewers across the English top flight scene have made clear their belief that Ranieri’s Hornets season will end in tears, with just a few of the highlights shown below:
