Manchester United stance on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed

Manchester United stance on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed

Man United’s struggles

Manchester United’s latest outing saw them clinging to a 1-1 draw against Everton at Old Trafford.

This came after their 1-0 loss to Aston Villa in the Premier League the weekend before.

Prior to this, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co. would be eliminated from the League Cup against West Ham, and the FA Cup now appears to be United’s only realistic shot at a trophy this season.

On the other hand, Man United suffered a humiliating loss to Young Boys in the Champions League and was unconvincing when they beat West Ham in the league and Villarreal in the Champions League.

The Red Devils must now face a rather horrible streak of matches after the international break, which will see them face most of the best teams in PL.

Man United’s stance on Solskjaer

On the back of Man United’s draw with Everton, the OleOutNow hashtag would be trending on social media:

This isn’t too surprising given United’s recent results and some of their rather poor performances even when they won.

However, while Man United fans seem to want Solskjaer out, the stance of the Man United board of directors appears to be far from that.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano would provide an update on the Solskjaer situation on Sunday evening, reporting that nothing has changed regarding Man United’s position at Ole:

“What is the position of the club? From what I have been told, nothing has changed from now on from Manchester United. They have no panic, they know that Solskjaer will need some time to improve the team, improve the identity, start and rebuild the identity with Cristiano Ronaldo. He is a fantastic player, a fantastic champion, but he is really changing the idea of the team, so they need to adapt to Cristiano Ronaldo as a new key player.

“They are showing him confidence. Of course they expect something different, particularly in the Premier League because the Champions League with Villarreal changed the group situation in a positive way for Manchester United.

Romano then adds that Man United is not looking to replace Solskjaer and there has been no contact with other managers as they still think of the Norwegian as the right man for the project:

“Of course everyone at the club expects something different in the coming weeks. They want a team to win a few games in a row for Manchester United to change their table with many and many teams involved in the title race this season. But for Solskjaer, from Manchester United, they are not looking to replace him, there is nothing at the moment, such as contacts with other coaches. If the situation worsens in the next few weeks, of course, perhaps the discussion can change. But as of now, they don’t plan to appoint a new manager, they still think of Solskjaer as the right man for this project for this season. And so, from the Manchester United board, they are showing all their confidence in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ”.
