Erling Haaland continues to shine

Along with Kylian Mbappé, Erling Haaland seems destined to be one of the best footballers of the next decade.

Despite just turning 21, Haaland has already established his status as one of the best center forwards in the world.

The Norwegian combines speed, power and some really lethal spikes to form a truly sensational striker.

For his current club, Borussia Dortmund, Haaland has scored 68 and provided 19 assists in just 67 outings, a goal contribution record generally reserved for players like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Van Dijk explains why it is so difficult to play against Haaland

This season alone, Haaland has scored 11 and assisted four in just eight outings for BVB, including one on one in the Champions League.

Now Virgil van Dijk, arguably the best center-back in the world today, has been talking about Haaland.

VVD have not played Haaland since he moved to Dortmund. However, he faced the hit man while he was still in the RB Salzburg.

And now, Van Dijk has explained why it is so difficult to play against Haaland, pointing to his strength and speed as key reasons why:

“Haaland is a special striker, because he is very strong, he is fast, he has all the attributes to make the life of a defender very difficult.

“The first time [I played him] It was when he entered Anfield. He was in Salzburg and got a tap-in and scored.

“Obviously, in the away game he didn’t. He was substituted after 65 minutes or so, but it was very difficult, he was very fast, aggressive, very direct.
