Liverpool vs Man City

Liverpool will look to continue their strong start to the 2021/22 season on Sunday.

The Reds’ latest outing saw them crush FC Porto, who had previously been undefeated in 18 games, 5-1 in a Champions League tie.

Prior to that, Liverpool drew 3-3 at Brentford last weekend, but they are also the only Premier League team that has yet to lose a single game this campaign.

Of course, that could very easily change this weekend, when they host Manchester City at the start of Sunday’s Premier League.

Man City lost to PSG earlier this week and was beaten by Tottenham in the opening weekend. However, his victory over Chelsea recently reminded skeptics of Pep Guardiola and company. they remain a force to be reckoned with.

Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp on Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola

Before the game, Jurgen Klopp has been talking about Pep Guardiola.

In recent years, Manchester City and Liverpool have dominated the English football scene.

Manchester City have been in the lead in three of the last four seasons, but Liverpool would win it in 2019/20 and brought the Sky Blues incredibly close during the 2018/19 campaign.

So with the same two teams fighting for supremacy, it would be assumed that there would be a great deal of hostility between the managers of the two clubs, just as we had seen in previous years from managers like Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger.

However, at least on the part of Jurgen Klopp, there is no such hostility, and the German recently declared that he likes Pep and respects him very much:

“It’s true. I don’t know if I ever told Pep, but I like it!

“I annoy him with things I say at press conferences that are not meant to say anything bad about him or Man City. Someone from city staff tells him that ‘Klopp said this’ and I can see from his lecture that he gets very angry. I’m sorry about that!

“No, I respect him very much. I desperately want to win, he wants to do that, and we are completely different personalities, but nevertheless I like him and respect him.
