Ole Gunnar Solskjaer explains why Cristiano Ronaldo was demoted to the bench against Everton

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer explains why Cristiano Ronaldo was demoted to the bench against Everton

Ole sounds changes

After a final win over Villareal in the middle of the week, Manchester United take on Everton in the opening hour of the match on Saturday, as they look to keep up with the Premier League leaders ahead of October’s international break.

To this end, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has marked the changes, leaving out the star trio Jadon Sancho, Paul Pogba and Cristiano Ronaldo, all of whom started in the Champions League.

On a much-changed side, Luke Shaw returned to the side from injury, while Harry Maguire remains out after limping out of his clash with Aston Villa.

This means that Victor Lindelof joins Raphael Varane, with an unusual start for Anthony Martial in the attack alongside the return of Edinson Cavani.

Ole explains the absence of Ronaldo and Pogba

When asked about his team’s selection, Ole was quick to point out the efforts made on Wednesday night, in which Pogba, Sancho and Ronaldo started the game, and the Portuguese forward finally scored the winning goal in the minute 95.

The Norwegian chief said:

“Wednesday night was a great effort, a great emotional and physical production, so we need to refresh ourselves when it’s an early start. The beginning of this game is going to be very important and we have very good players on the way ”.

Will they be decisive from the bench?
