Arsenal’s Balogun wins the penalty with dazzling ability against Brighton

Video: Arsenal's Folarin Balogun produces astonishing individual ability to win penalty against Brighton U23

Images of Arsenal star Folarin Balogun hitting his man to secure a pitching opportunity during the club’s under-23 meeting with Brighton tonight have gone viral on social media.

Salah between goals

Kevin Betsy’s men were back in action recently.

After a good start to the campaign, the Gunners Under-23s welcomed Brighton & Hove Albion to the Emirates, before their older counterparts met the Seagulls in 24 hours.

Due to four wins and a draw in their first six games, Arsenal were certainly aware that before the action in North London began, another three-point shot would clearly guide them to the summit of Premier League 2.

And when all was said and done on Friday night, marching to another victory is precisely what the hosts achieved.

A dominant 90 minutes finally culminated with Arsenal emerging from the right side from a final score of 3-0.

Folarin Balogun proved to be the star of the show, scoring a double on either side of the interval to bring his tally to six goals in just four appearances this season.

Also on target for the second week in a row was highly regarded midfielder Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand, adding to his long-range stun against Manchester City last weekend.

Folarin’s fancy footwork

However, as described above, it was not the goals themselves scored in the Emirates tonight that have since turned the internet on.

Instead, this has come in the form of a piece of individual brilliance by the aforementioned Balogun.

After collecting the ball in the corner shortly after the hour mark, prolific hitman Balogun squared off his opposing Brighton defender, before producing the most sumptuous nutmeg imaginable, culminating in a shooting opportunity from the point.

Take a look at the skill below, it will undoubtedly only lead to increased calls so that 20-year-old Mikel Arteta has a more consistent chance to impress at the top level:
