Thomas Tuchel explains why Chelsea lost to Juventus on matchday two of the Champions League

Thomas Tuchel explains why Chelsea lost to Juventus on matchday two

Tuchel suffers consecutive losses

Chelsea have suffered back-to-back defeats to Thomas Tuchel for only the second time in his tenure at Chelsea, as they fell in a 1-0 loss to Juventus in Turin.

Federico Chiesa opened and finally finished, the score 14 seconds after halftime with a blow to the roof of the net from 10 yards.

With a home game against Southampton this weekend, Chelsea will be looking to stop the rot and show their title credentials once again with a convincing victory.

Tuchel reveals why Chelsea lost

Speaking after the game, Thomas Tuchel revealed why his team lost, and it largely came down to sharpness.

The German Announced:

“We had a lot of possession but we didn’t start strong enough. In the first 15 minutes or so, we had many opportunities to counter and set the pace to the opponents much, much higher on the field and in dangerous parts. We needed to ask a lot more questions than tonight.

“We gave away two crucial ball possessions that could have hurt us and we can’t have this at this level. They were so deep and passive that we struggled to find our rhythm and apply our intensity.

“He was slow in our decision making and we lacked that sharpness. Today we did not look fresh and that surprised me at the time because yesterday in training we looked good. ”

Tuchel continued to lament the lack of desire to shoot from his side, saying:

‘Maybe it’s a shooting problem because if you don’t shoot, you can’t be on target. When you play against a deep block like today, you are allowed to take shots.

“We found the spaces, but it wasn’t easy to get a lot of shots, even though there were some late-game opportunities where it’s not that difficult to find the target.”

Can the Blues turn it around the weekend?
