Anfield Showdown

Klopp and company. they are ready to turn their attention to domestic matters this weekend.

After continuing their remarkable scoring streak thanks to a 5-1 beating of Portuguese giants Porto in the Champions League on Tuesday night, the Reds now face a much more daunting task.

This comes in the form of a Premier League showdown with champion Manchester City.

The two most recent English top flight winners are separated by a single point at the top of the division as it stands, with Liverpool boasting the lead.

However, Pep Guardiola’s City will undoubtedly be confident in their chances of hitting a second consecutive triple in the Premier League on Sunday, after beating Chelsea last weekend.

‘I won’t have enough time’

As such, it goes without saying that Jurgen Klopp will be desperate to have as many of his key players fit and available as possible when the Merseysiders host City in three days.

And, as described above, on Thursday, the Liverpool manager provided revealing updates on two of those players: Trent Alexander-Arnold and Thiago Alcantara.

Both TAA and Thiago were forced to watch from the bench two nights ago as their team rampaged at the Estadio do Dragao.

And, in a blow to everyone associated with the Reds, Klopp confirmed tonight that neither will compete again in time to appear against City this weekend:
