The president of Fiorentina “worries” about the future of Tottenham for the summer

Tottenham and Atlético de Madrid face off for Vlahovic

Tottenham and Atlético de Madrid went head-to-head over the services of 21-year-old Serbian striker Nicola Vlahovic last summer, only for him to reject both clubs and remain in Serie A.

The Spurs were looking for someone to play alongside Harry Kane this summer, but were unable to do so and are suffering as a result. However, they could have gotten a huge boost if they wanted to pick it up next summer.

New contract stalled?

Vlahovic is currently under contract with La Viola until 2023, and he has started the 2021-22 season in the same brilliant way he spent the 2020-21.

In seven games so far this season, the Serbian forward has scored six goals, proving why he was so hot in the summer.

And now, speaking to TMW, Fiorentina CEO Rocco Commisso has revealed that contractual talks on a new deal have come to a standstill at this point, saying:

“I don’t know if Vlahovic will sign a new contract.”

He went on to reveal that the star man had been offered a contract worth € 8 million a year (£ 132,000 per week before tax), but nothing has been agreed, claiming:

“We offered him 40 million euros of gross salary paid in five years, the most important contract in the history of Fiorentina, more than Batistuta and Rui Costa. He’s taking a big risk, I’m getting nervous … “

With only one year remaining on his contract next summer, could we see Tottenham and many other clubs join the search for Vlahovic, especially if he continues to score goals this campaign?

And how much would he be looking to recover Fiorentina for his star man?
