Top picks of captains for GW7

A key part of playing Fantasy Premier League is choosing your captain for each week of play.

The player who selects from his starting eleven as his captain will see his point total doubled from that round of matches. And if you’re not involved in any way, your vice-captain for the week will have his normal point total doubled.

Such an increase in points can often make or break your playing week and see you move up or down the FPL ranks a bit.

Therefore, choosing the best captain each week is a decision that you need to think a lot about. And in 101, we are here to help, choosing the top three captains options each week.

Here are our picks for week 7.

Romelu Lukaku, Chelsea (11.7)

The first player you might want to captain this week is Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgian has already faced Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenahm, Arsenal and Aston Villa in his first five Premier League games of the season.

Despite such a difficult streak, Lukaku was still able to score three goals in the process.

Now, Lukaku and Chelsea’s match streak becomes much, much easier, starting with a home match to Southampton in week seven.

The Saints have yet to win a league game this term and while they have managed to draw four draws, they have still thrown in seven goals in the process.

They also have the 8th-the highest xGA in the league so far in 2021/22, with the firepower of Lukaku and company. It’s probably too much for them this time.

Michail Antonio, West Ham (8.0)

Michail Antonio has been an absolute gift to the FPL players this year and is once again a great captain this week.

Antonio is currently the highest scoring striker in the game today. It also has the second highest xG in PL and highest xA of all others in 2021/22 at the time of writing.

And while Brentford, West Ham’s opponents this week, have previously had a decent defensive record, their 3-3 draw with Liverpool in GW6 showed that they are more than capable of sending goals when faced with the right attack, than Antonio and company. It should be.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester United (12.7)

The last player you might want to consider captaining this week is Cristiano Ronaldo.

United play at home to Everton this weekend and while the Toffees haven’t been that poor defensively this season, they have still sent seven of six.

It is also worth noting that Rafa Benítez’s team has yet to face a single ‘top six’ club in 2021/22.

Everton’s underlying defensive stats aren’t that great either, as the Merseysiders lost the 4thth more tackles (66) in the PL so far this term, in addition to conceding the 4th more set pieces in PL this season (28).

All statistics are taken from FFHub, Understat and FFscout.
