Bernd Leno sends transfer ultimatum to Arsenal after being withdrawn

Bernd Leno sends transfer ultimatum to Arsenal after being eliminated by Aaron Ramsdale

Aaron Ramsdale excelling

Arsenal would bring in Aaron Ramsdale from the now championship team Sheffield United for the summer.

The Englishman had not previously enjoyed the best of Premier League seasons with both Sheffield United and Bournemouth.

However, Ramsdale is still only 23 years old and full of potential. When he was hired, there was an expectation that he would play as a backup for Bernd Leno.

And, in the first three league games of the season, this is what happened, with the German starting in a 2-0 loss to Brentford, a 2-0 loss to Chelsea and a 5-0 loss to Manchester City (Ramsdale had not signed by Arsenal at the time of Brentford’s match).

But after the Gunners’ terrible start to the campaign, Mikel Arteta has left Leno and given Ramsdale a chance to shine.

And, so far, the young shooting stopper is doing exactly that, keeping two clean sheets in a row before impressing Tottenham last weekend.

Leno’s transfer ultimatum

However, what does this mean for Bernd Leno?

It had previously been claimed that Arteta had promised Leno that he would have a layoff for just two games, which means he would be back against the Spurs:

This, of course, did not happen. And now, Leno has issued some kind of transfer ultimatum to Arsenal.

The German stated that although he is not yet seriously thinking about leaving Arsenal, if nothing changes in his situation for the winter, he would have to start thinking about his future:

“There was no clear reason why I was out, but it had nothing to do with my performance. He is the coach, he decides. Of course, it is difficult for me.

“London is very beautiful; Milan is not bad either and closer to my home Stuttgart. But I’m not seriously thinking about it yet. I feel comfortable at Arsenal and in London ”.

“Only if nothing changes in my situation for the winter, I would have to think about things: what option do I have, how can I continue? But I am concentrating on my work in training; I can’t commit to anything else right now. “
