Tottenham forward criticizes the tactics of Nuno Espirito Santo after the demolition of the derby

Tottenham take a beating in the North London derby

A first-half blitz saw Arsenal score three times in 40 minutes and claim victory in the North London derby at The Emirates yesterday.

Emile Smith Rowe, roared by a jubilant local crowd, opened the scoring and was late to convert a Bukayo Saka cross. Then it was Smith Rowe’s turn to supply his teammates, finding Aubameyang who made it 2-0 after just 25 minutes.

It got even worse for Tottenham fans, as Bukayo Saka got his name on the score sheet before halftime, which saw some Spurs fans refuse to take their seats for the second half.

Although the Spurs found belated solace through Heung-Min Son, they were a well beaten team on the day and seemed lacking in direction, drive and ideas in what became their third consecutive loss, during which time they have conceded 9 goals.

Moura hits Tottenham’s tactic

Speaking after the game, Lucas Moura took what can be interpreted as a blow to new boss Nuno Espirito Santo, pointing out the horrible tactics deployed by the Lilwhites against the Gunners.

The brazilian said:

“The feeling is very, very bad. We know what it means for the fans, for the club and of course we wanted to win, we wanted a different result ”.

“It was a very bad game, it didn’t work out at all.”

“I think they took advantage of our mistakes. We gave them too much space. And we don’t play. We don’t try to play. We are not trying to have the ball.

“We have quality to have the ball, to build, to do more than we did. So many long balls. We were not aggressive enough and they punished us ”.

However, Moura was also quick to point out that players had a role to play, saying:

“We need to run more. We need to be more aggressive, we have to work harder, work harder. ”

“But we can’t be crazy. It’s just the beginning of the season. We have a lot of games to play so we need to improve as soon as possible. “
