“No wonder Valencia fired you.” Fans react when Gary Neville names his favorite Manchester United XI

Neville’s controversial lineup

Gary Neville hosted a lunchtime Twitter Q&A, answering questions from his followers. However, what stood out to readers was one answer in particular, where he was asked who his chosen starting XI would be for the Red Devils if they were all fit.

Neville chose to team Scott McTominay with Paul Pogba in central midfield, while Mason Greenwood and Cristiano Ronaldo positioned themselves on either side of Edinson Cavani.

Fans react to Neville’s decisions

Jamie Carragher reacted quickly to Neville’s side, pointing to an argument they had on Monday Night Football about Pogba playing on the left wing.

He also highlighted the omission of Jadon Sancho, who joined the club just this summer to play on the right.

Carragher joined other Twitter users in trolling his Sky Sports colleague, who mostly had the same concerns as the former Liverpool defender.

So clearly United’s top eleven continues to divide opinion, a story of the myriad of options available to the Red Devils.
