Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale reveals why he was upset after North London derby win

Arsenal's Aaron Ramsdale reveals why he was upset after North London derby win

Arsenal achieve 3 victories in the North London derby

A first-half blitz saw Arsenal score three times in 40 minutes and claim victory in the North London derby at The Emirates yesterday.

Emile Smith Rowe, roared by a jubilant local crowd, opened the scoring and was late to convert a Bukayo Saka cross. Then it was Smith Rowe’s turn to supply his teammates, finding Aubameyang who made it 2-0 after just 25 minutes.

It got even better, as Bukayo Saka put his name on the roster before halftime, which saw some Spurs fans refuse to take their seats for the second half.

Although the Spurs found belated solace through Heung-Min Son, they were a well beaten team on the day and seemed lacking in direction, drive and ideas in what became their third consecutive loss, during which time they have conceded 9 goals.

Ramsdale still upset over clean sheet failure

Despite a monumental victory, new signing Aaron Ramsdale was unhappy with his performance. At the end of the piece, a deflected shot from the left foot by Lucas Moura forced the goalkeeper to make a brilliant save, pushing the ball to the crossbar.

Speaking after the game, however, Ramsdale revealed that he felt he should have saved the goal, saying:

“I would have loved to keep a clean sheet, I’m a little upset with myself for the goal.”

If I keep my body weight forward, I think I keep it and it goes around the post. “

However, he was quick to praise the team and fans for the result, noting:

“But this place was great today, the forwards were excellent, the defenders were excellent, I’m buzzing with this. This is an amazing day and hopefully every time we face them it will be like this. ‘

We pride ourselves on defending ourselves, Ainsley [Maitland-Niles] you tried to block it, you got a deviation that probably didn’t help.

‘I managed to jump in and give him a hand and luckily he got off the bar and he’s reliable. [Takehiro] Tomiyasu has cleared it and we have come out with a single goal against and three points ”.

Now seemingly firmly Mikel Arteta’s No. 1, is Ramsdale starting to show why he pushed Arsenal back so far this summer?
