After Arteta provides the Xhaka update, analysis suggests ligament damage

Is there a prolonged absence? After Arteta Provides Granit Xhaka Update, Expert Analysis Points To Ligament Damage

News about the well-being of Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has emerged online tonight, following his early departure from the North London Derby.

Arsenal 3-1 Tottenham

Xhaka and the rest of Mikel Arteta’s squad turned their attention back to Premier League affairs recently.

After notching three wins out of three in all competitions to oust AFC Wimbledon from the EFL Cup, the Gunners welcomed their archrivals, the Spurs, to the Emirates.

The two sides got underway amid periods in starkly contrasting fashion, with Nuno’s visitors fresh off a pair of back-to-back 3-0 league losses.

And when all was said and done in the English capital on Sunday, the action went true to form.

A 20-minute explosive spell during the first half, which saw them find the net on no less than three occasions, was finally enough to guide Arsenal to three points.

Emile Smith Rowe, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bukayo Saka were the men on target, and Heung-min Son’s late goal for Spurs, in the end, turned out to be little more than consolation.

‘Quite worried’

However, as described above, in the middle of a stellar work night, Arsenal also took a worrying blow on Sunday.

This happened on the personnel front, when, ten minutes from the end, Granit Xhaka was ejected in obvious pain, after Lucas Moura landed uncomfortably.

Mikel Arteta, speaking during his post-match press duties, was inevitably drawn to the well-being of his Swiss midfield star, and went on to explain:

“Unfortunately, he got injured and I am quite concerned because he is not looking very positive at the moment.”

And if the next word on social media tonight is something to go through, then it seems the Arsenal boss has good reason to be concerned.

According to Dr. Raipal Brar, a highly regarded sports injury analyst, the nature of the impact on Xhaka’s knee pointed to a “ very probable ” ligament damage, with a spell on the side, in turn, that seemed almost guaranteed:
