The reason why Manchester United vs Aston Villa has moved to a kick-off at 12.30

Why Manchester United vs Aston Villa has been moved to a kick-off at 12.30

The English match list

Traditionally, the list of matches in the English top flight has consisted of a game at 12.30 pm. M. On Saturdays, several at 3 p.m. M. And followed by a game at 5.30 p.m. M. An 8pm kickoff was also added to the mix last season for optimal television coverage, but this season it was discarded.

However, an anomaly is occurring today, as there are two games at 12.30pm. M. The main bill and televised game is, of course, that Chelsea will host Manchester City.

However, Cristiano Ronaldo will also return to Old Trafford for the second time (and second time without television) when Manchester United host Aston Villa in the same time slot.

Why is the game at 12.30?

Originally, Chelsea’s set was selected as the first set by television companies (BT in this case, covering each set at 12.30), so it is currently the main billing device.

The match pits the Premier League champions against the Champions League winners and is a replay of the May 2021 Champions League final, and promises to be an exciting competition.

By contrast, the Manchester United game was to be a 3pm show at the Theater of Dreams. However, it was advanced due to a clash with a musical event.

The event in question? The Courteeners, supported by the Blossoms, play on the Old Trafford cricket ground (a 10-minute walk from the football pitch).

Given that the event would draw 50,000 spectators, and Trafford’s council felt that the crossing of football fans and concerts would be too much for public transportation (the game was originally supposed to end about 15 minutes before the concert started).

In a statement, Manchester United said:

“Our home game against Aston Villa on September 25 was brought forward at 12:30 BST, following a request from the Trafford Council Security Advisory Group to move the game due to the Courteeners concert at Lancashire Cricket Club, Emirates Old Trafford, On the same day.

“This request was supported by the Greater Manchester Police and TfGM [Transport for Greater Manchester] to avoid major local crowds, traffic and operational problems ”

“We regret any disruption this may cause to our fans’ plans for the day.”
