Man United boss gives new update on Shaw & Maguire ahead of Villarreal

Ole Gunnar Solskjær brings new updates on Shaw & Maguire's injuries ahead of the Champions League match

Doubtful Man United duo for mid-week

Man United Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjær released a new update on the injuries of defensive duo Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire following Red Devil’s disappointing 1-0 loss at Old Trafford to Aston Villa earlier today.

Shaw limped off the field after just 35 minutes of action against Dean Smith’s victorious Villa team, with the creativity seen in their highly effective overlapping runs a major failure for Man United as they struggled to break the deadlock.

To make matters worse, Maguire would eventually follow in Shaw’s footsteps when he himself had to call the doctors to have him removed with a shadow of more than 20 minutes of action at the Theater of Dreams.

Now, according to Solskjær, the key duo on the bottom line are doubts as Manchester United host recent nemesis Villarreal in their second match of the Champions League group stage at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

If his absences are confirmed, Shaw’s natural replacement will undoubtedly be Alex Telles – who replaced him against Villa – while there are two options for who could fill Maguire’s void at the heart of the defense; one from Eric Bailly or Victor Lindelöf.

The worst possible time for a possible injury crisis

Man United fans will be sweating the availability of England’s international pair, with a series of upcoming matches that are sure to put Red Devil’s strong start to the season to the test.

Solskjær will have been very disappointed by the loss at home after a tough eight-match streak against Villarreal, Everton, Leicester City, Atalanta (twice), Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester City.
