Patiño and Hutchinson train with the Arsenal first team

Famous Arsenal stars Charlie Patino and Omari Hutchinson have returned to training with the first team at London Colney in the run-up to the Gunners’ North London Derby weekend clash with Tottenham at the Emirates Stadium.

The English couple are widely seen as the best of an impressive bunch in the “class of 2020” at Arsenal alongside players like Marcelo Flores, Brooke Norton-Cuffy, Zane Monlouis, Jack Henry-Francis (who has also had a taste of first-team life during preseason) and Khayon Edwards.

Under the leadership of former Arsenal center-back and staunch German Per Mertesacker, the Hale End pipeline has reached another speed in the last three years with the Hanoverian at the helm. The hope, according to Mertesacker himself, is that the club must put emphasis on having an elite academy given the connection of the fans, as well as that Arsenal have the ability to be an attractive progressive path towards the minutes for young players faster than their rivals are able to offer.

Emotion around Patiño reaching the limit

Like any other fanbase with a rich history of developing their own talent, Arsenal fans have already drunk the kool aid around Charlie Patino’s watering hole in recent months.

The potential 17-year-old prodigy, who is already tagged as one of the best players to ever go through the Hale End academy ranks, he was widely expected to feature for Arsenal at some point against AFC Wimbledon in their Carabao Cup game midweek, but instead, he was not included in the squad at all.

But according to Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, caution should be exercised around the rising expectations regarding the player despite the fact that he trains well;

“It was very close but in the end we decided that some players also needed a few minutes. It will occur naturally over time.

Charlie has been good. He has been training more and more with us. He played a practice game at Colney and it was really good. But again, it needs time and we will prepare it. “
