James Rodríguez leaves Everton

James Rodríguez joined Everton in September 2020 from Real Madrid.

The signing at the time was seen as something of a blow to the Toffees, who were undoubtedly excited that the Colombian would once again hone his craft under the command of decorated boss Carlo Ancelotti.

And Rodriguez got off to a solid start to his career at Everton, scoring five goals and seven assists in his first 18 games:

However, Rodriguez sank a bit in the second half of 2020/21, in part due to fitness issues.

And after Carlo Ancelotti left for Real Madrid and Rafa Benítez took over, Rodríguez’s future at Goodison Park has been called into question.

Was reclaimed that Everton could sell six older players while Benitez rebuilds and Rodriguez was named as a player who could actually be moved.

Rodriguez did not leave for the summer, but has now officially left the club for Qatari team Al Rayyan for an undisclosed fee:

How Richarlison Reacted

Everton would break the news on their Twitter and Instagram accounts.

And it was on Instagram where Richarlison would react to the news.

The Brazilian seemed unaware that Rodríguez had left the club, and headed to the comment section of the Instagram post confirming that Rodríguez had left to post one of the many surprised face emojis available to users:
