Skate stars at youth level

The next player on Arsenal’s famous “Hale End” production line is believed to be young Charlie Patino. In fact, longtime Gunners scout Brian Stapleton recently provided insight into Patiño’s prodigious talents, revealing:

“Of all the years I’ve been exploring, he’s the best boy I’ve ever seen.”

‘I got a notice about Charlie from a guy, so I went there and couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I was 11 years old and I think I was playing in the U-13, and I was like ‘wow’.

His first touch was incredible, his vision, his awareness of space. He was way above his years, he was on another planet to anyone else in the field. ‘

I made a phone call to my department head at Arsenal at the time, Sean O’Connor. He asked me what I thought and I said: ‘well, I’m not going back. I don’t need to see more, you have to sign this guy right away. ‘

Patiño has continued to impress in the opening weeks of the PL2 season, prompting calls from the Arsenal faithful to see him thrown into the first team for their Carabao Cup third round tie against Wimbledon.

Patiño is unlikely to start in the Emirates

However, if Mikel Arteta’s pre-match press conference is something to go through, it seems unlikely that Patiño will jump into action from the beginning at least.

Speaking about his team selection, the Arsenal boss revealed:

“I hope I can bring out the strongest team that I can. That means the players have performed really well. Let’s see who is available and what is the best way to approach the game. “

With Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Thomas Partey and Sambi Lokonga in midfield, Gunners fans will have to wait a little longer to see their latest prodigy in action.
