Jurgen Klopp provides updates on Roberto Firmino and Naby Keita following Liverpool win over Norwich

Liverpool fires Norwich

Liverpool participated in the League Cup on Tuesday night. The Reds faced Norwich in a 3rd round tie.

Jurgen Klopp chose to rest several important players for the game. But Liverpool still had a lot of poor quality in the squad, including Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate.

And, in the end, it would be the Merseysiders who came out on top, thanks to a double from Takumi Minamino and a goal from Divock Origi.

Klopp is Keita and Firmino

Following the tie, Jurgen Klopp provided updates on Naby Keita and Roberto Firmino.

Keita seemed to be in some pain for the first 45 when he kicked the grass, and Klopp confirmed after the game that they needed to take him out at half-time and that is a bit concerning:

“At half time we had to change, Keita kicked the grass, a little worried. Curtis at mid-space, Tyler at No. 6, seemed more natural. Taki in good shape, Oxlade could use her speed. Everything is fine.”

The German then gave an update on Roberto Firmino, who has been out since coming out in the first half of the Reds’ 1-1 draw with Chelsea.

However, the Brazilian is expected to return soon, according to Klopp:

“I never had doubts [about the strength in depth]. Bobby trained y’day so he will be back soon. We have 2 media and we should make sure that number doesn’t increase, but the start of the season was good for the whole team. Much more to come. “
