Dele Alli offers a resounding endorsement to Nuno Espirito Santo despite the strong defeat of Chelsea

Spurs season hits an obstacle

After an effective, if not entirely impressive start to the season, Tottenham have seen their good work undone in the last two Premier League games. Back-to-back 3-0 losses to Crystal Palace and Chelsea, and particularly the performance in the loss to Palace, have raised questions about the suitability of new boss Nuno Espirito Santo for the job.

The pair of poor results has dropped the Spurs to seventh place in the table, having been up a fortnight ago. This weekend’s defeat in the North London derby would see Arsenal, sitting last in the international break, tie at the level of the Lilywhites, undoing virtually all the good foundations established in the first three games.

Clearly though, the new boss still has players under his spell, even if the results have worsened.

Dele Alli describes Nuno’s ability

Talking to Soccer, LondonTottenham midfielder Dele Alli was quick to defend his latest manager, offering resounding endorsement of what he has accomplished since joining the North Londoners.

There he revealed that:

“He has done a brilliant job. We all come to preseason training not knowing exactly what to expect with the arrival of a new coach. “

“Normally when a new coach comes in it’s exciting, but it’s usually due to a poor run in form or the team is not doing well. It gives the team a boost and it’s a new way of thinking, of looking at the game, different tactics.

“However, it has stabilized the ship and at the same time has a clear path forward. We work hard in preseason and things are going well. It is still very early, he has done a great job so far, but it is a long season, so we have to keep improving ”.

Alli, who has appeared in every Tottenham Premier League match thus far, is one of the main beneficiaries of Santo’s arrival, having made just 15 Premier League appearances last season and providing only the lone assist.

Of course, it remains to be seen how Tottenham will fare under the former Wolves boss this season.
