Who will win the Premier League?

2021/22, on paper, looks like it will be perhaps the most open Premier League title race in recent memory.

During the last years, in general, it has been Manchester City or Liverpool who have dominated the English top flight.

However, summer business from Manchester United and Chelsea now suggests that all four teams could have a shot at winning the silverware this time around.

Chelsea’s biggest problem last season was a lack of goals. However, they have now signed one of the top 9 in the world today in Romelu Lukaku, as well as bringing in Saul Niguez on loan to provide coverage in midfield.

Meanwhile, Man United signed Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane, tackling two of United’s weakest positions in the process.

Also, of course, they brought Cristiano Ronaldo back to the club, who has already scored four out of three for the Red Devils.

‘Supercomputer’ predicts the Premier League table

Despite this, neither club has been predicted to win the league title this time around so the Mirror described as a “supercomputer”.

As their report explains, CIES Football Observatory Weekly has used a statistical model to predict how the top five leagues in Europe could finish this season.

The model combines factors such as the player’s experience, the transfer fees invested in the teams, and the performance of each team over the last year.

And, according to the Mirror, the model has Manchester City winning the 2021/22 league title. Manchester United is then in 2North Dakota place, with Liverpool 3rd and Chelsea somewhat surprisingly down at 4th.

Tottenham and Everton, meanwhile, occupy the Europa League places, Leicester City are in the Europa Conference League place while Newcastle, Watford and Norwich City are relegated.
