Arsenal’s new kid Sambi Lokonga reveals his favorite position

“The most important thing for me is being on the pitch”, Arsenal's new kid, Sambi Lokonga, reveals his favorite position and what has surprised him the most since he joined the club

Sambi impresses in red and white

Arsenal brought promising midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga into their ranks as part of their summer rebuild, spending £ 20m to move the Belgian midfielder away from Anderlecht.

It has also started to work, impressing Arsenal fans in the preseason and being one of the only bright lights in the Gunners’ disappointing loss to Chelsea on matchday two.

With Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka likely ahead of Lokonga in Arsenal’s pecking order, and Mikel Arteta’s desire to finally move into a 4-3-3 formation, the Belgian might need to be patient for his chances. However, he is still 21 years old and has time on his side.

Lokonga reveals what surprised him the most about Arsenal

Talking about the officer Arsenal twitch channel, Lokonga has continued to win the affection of Arsenal fans.

When asked about his favorite position and revealed that he prefers to play later, he said:

“I like being 8 years old to be able to attack and defend with more freedom, that’s what I like. But i also like [playing as] six so it’s hard. I like both but the most important thing for me is to be in the field “

The last sentence in particular will be music to the ears of Arsenal fans, with players eager to represent the club seemingly in short supply in recent weeks.

Lokonga also revealed what has surprised him the most in the Arsenal dressing room since joining, and offered another endearing response, revealing that:

“This is how people are humble, you know. They are in a great club like Arsenal, but they are very humble and they are very friendly. I think that everyone in the world should be like that, be humble and take care of the boy who is next to him, and I think that’s what I like ”.

After years of perceived attitude issues at the club, this will be a welcome revelation for Gunners fans.

Could Lokonga continue to consolidate in Arsenal’s midfield?
