Arsenal fans express concerns about umpires ahead of Spurs’ showdown

Why Arsenal fans are already worried about officiating ahead of the Spurs showdown

Arsenal fans took to social media to express their collective concern on Monday, after the referee confirmed that he will handle the club’s next league outing.

Gunners back in song

Mikel Arteta’s men will, of course, take part in the most anticipated match next weekend in the Premier League.

This comes with the latest edition of the North London Derby set to be played next Sunday night.

The two sides will head into proceedings after seeing their respective season starts in totally contrasting directions over the course of the last week.

Visiting Tottenham started their 2021/22 campaign in an enormously impressive way, adding nine points from the nine available to take their place at the top of the English top flight.

The last fortnight, however, has proven to be of a considerably more proven nature.

After being passed for the first time 3-0 at Crystal Palace, the Lilywhites were on the receiving end of a similar beating on Sunday, at home to rivals in the capital, Chelsea.

Arsenal, on the other hand, have rebounded from a trio of successive defeats in the Premier League with a pair of hard-fought victories over Norwich City and Burnley respectively.

The latter came last weekend, when a moment of magic courtesy of Martin Odegaard was enough to see the Gunners emerge from Turf Moor with all three:

Pawson’s concern

However, as described above, ahead of the fast-approaching North London derby this weekend, Arsenal supporters have started to express concern.

This comes to the back of the umpire team for the clash that will be unveiled on Monday night.

The man who will take over the occasion comes in the form of Craig Pawson, who of course made headlines by sending David Luiz for an early shower during a meeting with the Wolves last season.

However, this is far from the only incident highlighted by the Gunners faithful on Monday, with just a few of the social media recaps shown below:
