The seven players who could leave Manchester United as part of the cleanup

The seven players who could leave Manchester United as part of the cleanup

A report from the Sun over the weekend suggests Manchester United could shed up to seven stars starting in January as part of a cleanup.

Man United squad

The Red Devils have a fairly large squad with coverage in virtually every position.

However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that the cover in question is really up to the task or that the starting players in some places are good enough.

The main example of this comes in the midfield. All Fred, Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic can technically be used as defensive midfielders for the Red Devils.

However, neither of them are good enough in that role, especially when played alongside Paul Pogba, whose defensive ability is questionable.

As a result, it would probably be prudent for Man United to move some of its deadwood before bringing in more quality stars, such as a top defensive midfielder.
