Brighton boss Graham Potter provides update on Yves Bissouma following injury scare against Leicester

Brighton boss Graham Potter provides update on Yves Bissouma following injury scare against Leicester

Brighton vs Leicester

Brighton and Leicester City would meet in a Premier League clash on Sunday afternoon.

The Gaviotas would head into the tie thanks to a strong start to the 2021/22 campaign, which had seen them win three and lose one of their first four league games of the campaign.

As a result, a Brighton win against Leicester would put them in the top four ahead of Manchester City and Chelsea, for the time being.

Meanwhile, Leicester has had a rather uneven start to the season so far. Before Sunday, the Foxes had won two and lost two in the Premier League.

And, when all was said and done at the Amex, Leicester suffered another defeat.

Neal Maupay would shoot Brighton into the lead from the penalty spot, thus ending the first 45. Danny Welbeck then doubled Brighton’s lead within five minutes of the second half and, although Jamie Vardy cut one after 61 minutes, Brighton he could endure the victory.

Bissouma update

Despite getting a win against the Foxes, Brighton appeared to take a hit in the first half on Sunday.

Star midfielder Yves Bissouma appeared to be injured after a challenge with Leicester’s Boubakary Soumare.

The African was not removed initially. However, he would remain on the field at halftime receiving treatment for the injury:

But, when the teams emerged for the second half, Graham Potter would stay with Bissouma. He then reached the 79th minute before being retired, and was then seen with an ice pack on his left knee after the game:

Graham Potter has since provided a upgrade in the midfielder. Speaking about Bissouma’s decision to return for the second half, the Brighton boss stated:

“I was desperate to play, the medical department agreed with that. He extended his knee a little.

“As the game begins, fatigue can be a problem, but I was desperate to get out. It was a decision of the medical department. “
